A Chrome extension for Shopify merchants.
Shopify already suggests a product category and product metafields for your products — that is Shopify Magic. Accepting those suggestions means opening each product and clicking through them one at a time. This extension does that clicking for the product you are looking at.
It accepts only what Shopify itself proposes. It never invents a category, never replaces a category you already chose, and never deletes anything.
It also works through a list. Filter the product list in your Shopify admin to whatever you want to work on — “Category is not set”, say — then preview the whole page in one go, read the results, and apply them if they look right. It stays inside the filter you set, moves your own tab one product at a time in front of you, and stops the moment you ask it to.
It is in a private pilot. The Chrome Web Store listing is unlisted, so searching the store will not find it — you need the link. Email dlatjswo9@gmail.com with the name of your Shopify store and we will send it to you, along with a short guide.
Some pilots are sent a package to install by hand instead, because those builds carry no monthly cap. If that is what you were sent:
~/category-suggestion-assistant, say. Do not move or
delete it afterwards: Chrome loads the extension from that folder every time it starts.chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode (top right).Chrome will then say that developer-mode extensions are running. That is what a hand-installed extension looks like; it is safe to dismiss, and it comes back each time Chrome starts.
You will need Chrome 105 or newer, and a Shopify admin in English or Korean — other admin languages are not supported yet.
The extension has no server, no account, and no analytics. It sends nothing anywhere; a record of what it did stays in your browser until you delete it or export it yourself.
